Light of Hope Orphans Care Organization’s Income-Generating Activities (IGA) program is designed to empower orphans, vulnerable children, and their families to become more financially self-reliant. The primary goal is to strengthen household livelihoods and enable families to meet their basic needs in a more sustainable way.
We encourage children’s families and caregivers to engage in practical income-generating activities that can provide a reliable source of income. Where resources allow, Light of Hope Orphans Care Organization supports these families with farm inputs, start-up capital, knowledge, and practical skills to help them establish and strengthen their livelihoods.
Our income-generating activities include: crop farming, vegetable growing and animal rearing, bricklaying, tailoring, arts and crafts and other appropriate small – scale livelihood activities.
These activities help families build their capacity to provide for themselves, reduce dependence on assistance, and create better opportunities for the children in their care.

EDUCATION
“The future of orphans and vulnerable children can be strengthened through access to quality education and opportunities for learning.”
Education is one of the most powerful tools for helping children build a better future. However, poverty and other difficult circumstances prevent many orphans and vulnerable children from accessing or completing their education. Without adequate support, children may struggle to remain in school, limiting their opportunities and increasing their vulnerability to poverty and other social challenges.
Providing a child with access to education gives them the opportunity to gain knowledge, develop important skills, build confidence, and prepare for a more independent future. Education can also empower children to make positive choices, develop leadership potential, and contribute to the well-being of their families and communities.
One of the major barriers facing orphans and vulnerable children is the inability to meet educational costs and obtain essential scholastic materials. Some children are unable to attend school consistently or complete their education because their parents or caregivers cannot afford school fees, uniforms, books, and other learning requirements. When children are out of school, they may become more vulnerable to exploitation, early pregnancy, child marriage, harmful behaviors, and other challenges.
Light of Hope Orphans Care Organization works to improve access to education for orphans and vulnerable children by helping them overcome some of these barriers. According to available resources, we provide support toward school fees and essential scholastic materials to help children enroll, remain in school, and continue their education.
The scholastic materials we may provide include exercise books, textbooks, pens, pencils, school uniforms, mathematical sets, school bags, iPads and laptops and other essential learning materials, depending on the needs of the children and the resources available.
We believe that education can equip children with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to build meaningful and productive lives. By investing in their education today, we are helping them prepare for a brighter future.

HEALTH CARE
Access to basic health care is essential for the well-being, growth, and development of children and vulnerable families. Light of Hope Orphans Care Organization works to help orphans, vulnerable children, and families in the community access essential health care and learn how to prevent common illnesses.
Children and vulnerable families in the Buwenge community face a number of health challenges, including malaria, typhoid, diarrhea, dysentery, measles, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, stroke, and other illnesses.
Light of Hope prioritizes the health and well-being of the children we serve by supporting access to medical treatment, providing mosquito nets where possible, and creating awareness about disease prevention and healthy living. We also provide health education and sensitization to help children, caregivers, and community members understand how to prevent and respond to common health challenges.
Through community health education campaigns and training, we raise awareness about the prevention of diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, typhoid, and other communicable illnesses. We believe that increasing health knowledge and encouraging preventive practices can help families protect their health and improve their quality of life.

FEEDING AND NUTRITION
Adequate nutrition is essential for the healthy growth, development, and well-being of children. Children who do not have regular access to sufficient and nutritious food are at greater risk of malnutrition, illness, poor growth, and difficulties in their education and development.
Orphans and vulnerable children and families living in poverty often face food insecurity and may struggle to provide adequate meals for their children. Light of Hope Orphans Care Organization believes that every child deserves the opportunity to grow, develop, and thrive. No child should have to go to bed hungry.
Through the support of generous individuals, churches, and partner organizations, Light of Hope Orphans Care Organization provides food assistance to children and vulnerable families according to available resources. We seek to ensure that the children we serve have access to nutritious food that supports their growth, health, and well-being.
The food we provide may include rice, maize flour (posho), beans, vegetables, Irish potatoes, sweet potatoes, fish, meat, cassava, bananas, chicken, eggs, and other locally available nutritious foods.
In addition to providing food, we encourage families and caregivers to understand the importance of balanced nutrition and healthy feeding practices. Our goal is not only to respond to immediate hunger but also to contribute to the long-term health and well-being of the children and families we serve.

Light of Hope Orphans Care Organization believes that every child deserves to be cared for with dignity and provided with basic necessities that help them live, learn, and participate confidently in their families and communities. Where resources allow, we support vulnerable children with essential clothing and footwear to help them stay comfortable, protected, and appropriately dressed.
Our clothing support may include everyday clothing, shoes, school uniforms, sweaters, and other essential items according to the individual needs of the children and the resources available.
Through the generosity of individuals, churches, and partner organizations, we can help provide these basic necessities to children who would otherwise struggle to obtain them. A simple gift of clothing or footwear can bring comfort, dignity, confidence, and joy to a child.

Light of Hope Orphans Care Organization is a Christ-centered organization committed to sharing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and supporting the spiritual growth and development of the children and communities we serve. Through our programs, we seek to encourage, equip, and empower children and families to know Christ, grow in their relationship with God, and become positive influences in their communities.
We provide spiritual support through Bible teaching, prayer, discipleship, Christian mentoring, evangelism, and other activities that encourage children to develop a strong and personal relationship with God. We use the Holy Bible as the foundation of our spiritual teaching and seek to instill biblical values such as love, faith, compassion, integrity, forgiveness, service, and hope.
We encourage the children we serve to put God first in their lives, develop a strong Christian foundation, and understand that their lives have purpose and value in Christ. We also seek opportunities to reach more children and families with the Gospel.
Light of Hope Orphans Care Organization desires to continue expanding its spiritual support and discipleship work and welcomes partnerships with Christian individuals, churches, ministries, and organizations that share our commitment to serving vulnerable children and communities through the love of Christ.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING & SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
Vocational training, including Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), equips individuals with practical knowledge and skills for specific trades and occupations. It can prepare young people and adults for employment, self-employment, entrepreneurship, and greater economic independence.
Light of Hope Orphans Care Organization supports orphans, vulnerable children, youth, and women in the community to access vocational training and practical skills development opportunities according to their interests, abilities, and available opportunities.
The purpose of our vocational training program is to promote self-reliance, strengthen livelihoods, and equip beneficiaries with practical skills that can help them pursue employment or establish their own small businesses. Alongside technical skills, we encourage the development of entrepreneurship and basic business skills to help beneficiaries make productive use of the knowledge they acquire.
Our vocational training support may include opportunities in areas such as:
Tailoring, Fashion and Design, Carpentry and Woodworking, Cosmetology, Hair and Beauty, Building and Construction, Hotel and Catering, ICT and Business Skills, Plumbing, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Welding and Fabrication, Electronics, Machining and Fitting.
By helping vulnerable young people and adults acquire practical skills, we aim to increase their opportunities for dignified employment, entrepreneurship, and economic self-reliance.
We believe that skills development can help beneficiaries build confidence, support their families, and contribute positively to their communities.

SPORTS, ATHLETICS & TALENT DEVELOPMENT
Through Soccer Talents Academy, a program of Light of Hope Orphans Care Organization, we run a Soccer Talent Development Program that seeks to identify, nurture, and develop the football talents of children and young people. We provide guidance, training, mentorship, and basic sports equipment to help young players develop their abilities, confidence, discipline, and teamwork.
The program provides essential sports equipment such as soccer balls, soccer boots/cleats, uniforms, bibs, cones, and other training materials. These resources help create a supportive environment where children and young people can develop their sporting abilities and pursue their potential.
Beyond football skills, we use sport as a tool for life-skills development and positive youth development. Through training and team activities, participants learn important values and skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, discipline, responsibility, perseverance, respect, and motivation. The program provides children and young people with constructive activities, positive guidance, and a sense of purpose while helping them make healthy and responsible choices.
As a Christ-centered organization, Light of Hope Orphans Care Organization also seeks to use sport as an opportunity to encourage Christian values, good character, integrity, respect, compassion, and service to others. We believe that sports can bring young people together, build relationships, develop character, and create opportunities for positive personal and spiritual growth.
Despite the potential of this program, we face challenges including limited sports equipment, financial resources, training facilities, infrastructure, and other resources needed to support the growing number of children and young people interested in football.
We welcome partnerships with individuals, Christian organizations, Christian soccer and sports academies, schools, institutions, sports organizations, coaches, and well-wishers who share our desire to use sport to develop young people and create positive opportunities for vulnerable children and youth.
